QUAKE HITS E NUSA TENGGARA

Bandarlampung, Indonesia, Sept 7 (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale hit the waters of East Nusa Tenggara province on Monday.

The epicenter of the tremor which struck at 10.09 Western Indonesian Time was located 426 km northeast of the East Nusa Tenggara provincial capital of Kupang at a depth of 17 km, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said.

The quake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami, it said.

Also on Monday, a magnitude 5.4 earthquake hit Bengkulu province at 01.46 p.m. The quake was centered 261 km southwest of Bintuhan, Bengkulu, at a depth of 25 km.
