National cemetery scraps programs for students over flu fears

SEOUL, Sept. 8 (Yonhap) -- Seoul National Cemetery said Tuesday it will cancel all its educational programs until the end of October due to fears they may help spread the Influenza A (H1N1) virus among students.

"Concerts, literary contests and other events drawing students will be canceled
for September and October, while all visitors will undergo checks for high body
temperatures," it said in a statement.
Health officials warned this week that the influenza virus could spread more
rapidly this fall with schools having just returned to session.
South Korea has confirmed over 6,000 cases of the H1N1 virus since the first
outbreak was reported here in May. Four have died from it.
