INDONESIAN STOCKS CLOSE LOWER IN MORNING TRADING



Jakarta, Sept. 9 (ANTARA) - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) closed slightly lower in morning trading on Wednesday on regional stock losses.

The BEI index fell 0.16 points to 2,371.139 points, while the LQ45 index went down 0.002 points to 461.565 points.

External factors had caused the Indonesian stocks to weaken, according to Edwin Sebayang, a capital market analyst of Finan Corpindo Nusa.

Bumi Resources (BUMI) shares went down Rp 25 to Rp 3,000, Aneka Tambang (ANTM) shares dropped Rp 50 to Rp 2,475, Telkom (TLKM) shares lost Rp 50 to Rp 8,400, Unilever (UNVR) shares fell Rp 250 to Rp 10,050, Indo Tambangraya (ITMG)shares slumped Rp 250 to Rp 23,700.

The BEI recorded a total of 46,567 transactions, with a total share quantity of 2.112 billion and a total value of Rp1.863 trillion. Some 70 shares advanced, 94 others lost and 70 remained static.

Earlier in the morning opening, the BEI index went down 5.582 points or 0.24 percent to 2,365.554 points and the LQ-45 index weakened 1.570 points or 0.33 percent to 469.081 points.

The Indonesian stocks again slumped as the prices of small-cap shares fell , according to Harry Kurniawan, a domestic capital market observer from PT Makinta Securities.
