UNKNOWN GUNMEN FIRE AT TEMBAGAPURA MILY CAR

Timika, Papua, Indonesia, Sept 9 (ANTARA) - The official car of the Tembagapura military command were fired on Tuesday morning at 6.30 a.m when passing mile 42 in the area of PT. Freeport.

Papua police chief Inspector General Bagus Ekodanto said Wednesday the shooting occurred when the car carrying the Tembagapura military chief Captain Nainggolan was returning to Tembagapura.

At that time, Captain Nainggolan was in the company of two of his men.

The attacks in the area of PT. Freeport which had occurred many times since early in July 2009 had killed three persons, including a Freeport employee.

The management of Freeport was still limiting transportation from Timika to Tembagapura, from 6 am to 6 pm local time.

The Papua police chief said his men is still escorting Freeport vehicles traveling to Tembagapura or to Timika.
