QUAKE HITS N SULAWESI
Manado, N Sulawesi, Indonesia, Sept 9 (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale rocked the northern part of Indonesia's Sulawesi island on Wednesday evening.
The epicenter of the quake which struck at 04.06 p.m. was located 146 km northeast of Bitung town in North Sulawesi, spokesman for the Manado Geophysics Station Andi Nur Eko Wibowo said.
The quake was also felt by people living in Manado, Airmadidi, Tagulandang, Siau and Tahuna.
Andi said the quake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami because it measured less than 7.0 on the Richter scale.
