Mareb Gas Power Plant on `Experimental Operation`
SANA'A, Sep. 09 (Saba) - The
government is working on finding solutions to electricity problems, topped by
persistent cut
offs, Minister of Energy and Electricity Awadh Al-Socotri has said, pointing to the
experimental operation of the Mareb Gas Power Plant. The Siemens Company,
implementing
the project, is currently operating the project, with the ministry contacting the
company to extend the operation, Al-Socotri said. During the experimental operation,
the
first generator produces gas power over 14 days, and after the period the generator
will produce 114 megawatts for two weeks. Then the second generator will operate,
with
power produced bythe plant reaching 341 megawatts, he said. 114 megawatts could
solve 50 percent of problems related to electricity cut off. With a third generator
operated
in the winter electricity cut off will disappear, the minister concluded. FR
