Seoul shares up 1.16 pct in late morning

SEOUL, Sept. 10 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 1.16 percent higher late
Thursday morning as foreign investors scooped up bank issues and other large caps
following overnight Wall Street gains, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) jumped 18.57 points to
1,626.34 as of 11:20 a.m., rebounding from losses the previous session.
U.S. shares rallied on Wednesday as a weak dollar pushed shares of American
exporters higher. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 0.53 percent and the
tech-laden Nasdaq composite index advanced 1.11 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,226.8 won to the greenback as of 11:20 a.m.,
up 0.2 won from Wednesday's close.
