AMERICAN CARNEGIE URGES TO INCREASE U.S. ASSISTANCE TO YEMEN
WASHINGTON, Sep. 12(Saba)-Carnegie Endowment for International Peace has urged the U.S. administration to increase its assistance to help Yemen to face its problems as it is strategic country in the region.
In its recent report, the American corporation said that the United States and other members of the international community need to embrace financial programs that would help Yemen address many of its challenges.
It is interest of Washington to contribute indirectly to improve internal security in Yemen, pointing out to the joint interesting of both countries in fighting terror, the report said.
The report said in spite of limited financial resources of the Yemeni government, but it managed to focus on certain fields to improve its economy and its domination.
Christopher Boucek, an associate at the Carnegie, descried Yemen as important country, asking the international community to offer support for it to find out appropriate solutions for its problems.
Spokesperson of Yemeni embassy in Washington Mohammed al-Bashah said that there was positive tend in the departments of the U.S. administration, which encourage increase of the American assistance to Yemen in different fields.
Al-Bashah said that the letter of the U.S. president to president Ali Abdullah Saleh recently confirmed such tend of the US administration toward Yemen.
