CBY: Foreign currency reserves decreased to $ 6.7 billion last July
SANA'A, Sep.12 (Saba)-Foreign currency reserves decreased last July to $ 6.7 billion at $ 315 million compared to June of 2009, Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) said.
The CBY's report said that the reserves registered highest level in July of 2008 at
sum of $ 8.4 billion before the reserves reduced due to decrease in oil price and
financial
crisis.
Recently, the bank stated that oil revenues of Yemen decreased during the first
seven months of 2009 to $ 803.4 million compared to $ 3.1 billion during same
period of last
year.
The CBY report attributes such decrease to reduction of the government's shares of
oil from 27 million barrels in 2008 to 15 million barrels in 2009, and decrease of
oil
price globally.
