Yemen imported 52,374 tons of candles during 1st half of 2009

(Saba)-Yemen imported 52,374 tons of candles via Hodeidah seaport during the first
half of this
year at sum of $ 5.8 million, althawarh.net reported.
The news website cited a report of Hodeidah customs that the Hodeidah seaport
received 38,606 generators at a total cost of 6.6 billion during the same period.
Yemen suffers of shortage in electricity and works to generate power by using gas
as it launched works in first phase of Mareb Gas power plant last week.
According to the report of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation,
Yemen was implementing many electricity-related projects including the
establishment and
rehabilitation of 20 electricity generating stations at a cost of $538.62 million.
These projects also include the connection of distribution networks as well as
establishing capacitors for energy discharge.
The report said that 428 projects in the electricity domain are under construction
across the republic with the aim of boosting energy resources and to radically
resolve
the problems of electricity cut off. AH
