Sharma visiting Sweden to deepen eco ties


New Delhi, Sep 13 (PTI) Indian Commerce and Industry
Minister Anand Sharma is leading a business delegation to
Sweden to deepen and strengthen economic relations through
trade and investment.

The minister would participate in a round table meeting
expected to be attended by CEOs of firms like telecom
equipment company Ericsson and auto major Volvo.

The Indian business delegation led by Confederation of
Indian Industry (CII) has representations from firms like Tata
Consultancy Services, Apollo Hospitals and HCL.

"The objective of the visit is to deepen and strengthen
India-Sweden economic relations through trade and investment
as well as cooperation in high-technology and emerging sectors
of the economy," CII said in a statement.

Bilateral trade between Sweden and India expanded almost
four-fold in 2002-03 to 2007-08 to stand at USD 2.7 billion.

India exports a range of manufactured products to Sweden,
including iron and steel items, automotives, and machinery and
parts.

Imports includes electrical equipment and machinery. PTI
