THIRTY POLICE TO GUARD PASSENGERS AT SOEKARNO-HATTA AIRPORT


Tangerang, Sept 13 (ANTARA) - A total of 30 armed police personnel will be deployed to guard the flow of Idul Fitri travelers at Soekarno-Hatta airport, particularly at the departure and arrival terminals, an airport operator said.

"We get assistance from the police where about 30 personnel will be deployed to secure the flow of Idul Fitri travelers at the airport," spokesman of state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II, Haryanto said on Sunday.

The number of passengers, or Idul Fitri travelers at Soekarno-Hatta airport this year, is expected to increase by 13 percent.

"The flow of passengers using a number of airlines through Soekarno-Hatta airport is expected to jump 13 percent," Trisno Heriyadi of PT Angkasa Pura II, said.

He said that the increase in the number of Idul Fitri travelers in the 2007 and 2008 post-fasting lebaran holidays reached only 10 percent.
