JAKARTA STOCKS CLOSE LOWER ON REGIONAL BOURSE LOSSES
Jakarta, Sept. 14 (ANTARA) - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) in Monday morning trading here closed lower on regional bourse losses.
The BEI index fell 27.60 points or 1.15 percent to 2,388.34, while the LQ45 index also weakened 5.667 points (or 1.20 percent) to the level of 465.299.
The weakening at regional bourses prompted the BEI index to slump on profit taking moves following rallies at Wall Street and regional bourses, Bertrand Raynaldi, a stock market analyst of Panca Global Securities, said here on Monday.
The decline of commodity prices also affected the BEI index to fall, he said.
He predicted the IHSG would move at the support level of 2,384 points.
PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (AALI) shares dropped Rp 500 or 2.39 percent to Rp 20,400, PT HM Sampoerna Tbk (HMSP) shares went down Rp 200 or 1.96 percent to the level of Rp10,000.
The BEI recorded a total of 36,161 transactions, with a total share quantity of 3.18 billion and a total value of Rp1,58 trillion.
The Indonesian stocks on Monday morning opened slightly lower on profit taking moves following rallies over the last five consecutive days.
The BEI index fell 16.662 points or 0.69 percent to 2,399.284 and the LQ-45 index weakened 4.043 points or 0.86 percent to 466.923 points.
The BEI Index depreciated because investors released their shares to take profit following rallies for five consecutive days and regional bourse gains, Alfiasyah, a stock broker of PT Sinarmas Securities, said.
The rupiah weakened against the US dollar in the Jakarta interbank spot market here on Monday morning on profit taking moves. The Indonesian currency traded at Rp9,945-Rp9,960 per US dollar, down 33 points from that at the market's close last weekend.
