Seoul stocks open higher on financial gains

SEOUL, Sept. 15 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks got off to a strong start
Tuesday, buoyed by financial rallies and overnight Wall Street gains, analysts
said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) climbed 11.99 points, or
0.73 percent, to 1,646.9 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Financial shares led the overall gain, boosted by improving profitability.
The local currency was trading at 1,222 won to the U.S. dollar, up 3 won from
Monday's close.
