MALAYSIAN DREDGER CAPSIZES IN BENGKULU WATERS

Bengkulu, Sept 15 (ANTARA) - A Malaysian dredger, the 'Raja Akasia', capsized in Lampung waters between West Lampung district and Bengkulu province, or about 150 miles from Bengulu city, on Monday but there were no casualties.

The ship with 13 crew members on board was later towed from Krui port at Lambar to Linau port in Kaur district, said Lt Col Sukrisno, commander of Bengkulu naval base, on Tuesday.

"I have received a report that all of the crew members of the ship are safe," he said.

He said the 'Raja Akasia' left Banten seaport in West Java on Friday, Sept 11, for Pulau Baai seaport in Bengkulu. The Malaysian ship left for Bengkulu for a dredging project in the province. Raja Akasia was expected to dredge the channel leading into the port of Bengkulu.

But on its way to Bangkulu, the ship was hit by six-meter high waves and capsized.
