TWO KPK VICE CHAIRMEN AGAIN QUIZZED BY POLICE

Jakarta, Sept 15 (ANTARA) - Two Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) vice chairmen, Chandra Hamzah and Bibit Samad Rianto, came to the National Police headquarters on Tuesday to undergo questioning on alleged misuse of their authority.

The questioning was done by officers from the corruption and white-collar crime unit of the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department.
"It is not a new summons from the police. Today's investigation is a continuation of the questioning on Friday (Sept 11). Therefore, the two KPK deputy chiefs still have the status of witness," KPK spokesperson Johan Budi said.

The police used Article 23 of Law No 31/1999 on corruption eradication, particularly a clause on abuse of authority, as the basis of their questioning, he said.
The police questioned the two KPK officials on the revocation of an overseas travel on Anggoro Wirjojo, a businessman, who had been named a suspect in a corruption case.

Before, Chandra and Bibid , along with other two other KPK deputy chiefs, namely M Jasin and Haryono Umar, had also come to the National Police Headquarters on Friday (Sept 11). All four were questioned by the police for 10 hours.

On Thursday (Sept 10), the police had also questioned three KPK staffer, namely investigation director Iswan Elmi, chief of legal bureau Chaidir Ramly and investigator Arry Widiatmoko.

The investigation over this case has caused controversy among society. Mabes Polri is valued as a party intending to find any reasons to do investigation to KPK.

This case first started when suspended KPK chief Antasari Azhar issued a testimonial paper contained his suspicion over bribery action done by director of PT Masaro Radiokom, Anggoro Widjojo, to several KPK high officials.

During investigation, accusation to KPK officials has changed into misuse of authority in the stalwart permit case of two KPK's fugitives, Djoko Tjandra and Anggoro Widjojo.
