INDONESIA TO CONTINUE HERCULES REJUVENATION PROGRAM
Jakarta, Sept 16 (ANTARA) - The government has decided to go ahead with its program to rejuvenate C-130 Hercules transport planes of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU), a Defense Ministry official said.
"In the near future two Air Force Hercules planes will be rejuvenated at home," the ministry's director general of defense facilities, Rear Marshal Erris Heryanto, said on Wednesday.
Earlier, four Hercules planes, two of them C-130s, were rejuvenated in Singapore. The Air Force also sent its technicians to the neighboring state to improve their know how in the maintenance and repair of Hercules planes, he said.
The rejuvenation of Hercules planes in Singapore covered the improvement of airframe and the modification of avionics and engines.
The rejuvenation of two Hercules planes will be carried out at the maintenance depot of the Abdurrahman Saleh air base, covering the upgrading of their engines from T56-7 to T-56-15 or from type B to type H.
