PT PUSRI TO EXPORT UREA FERTILIZER
Palembang, Sept 16 (ANTARA) - PT Pupuk Sriwijaya (Pusri) plans to export 470,000 tons of urea fertilizer in the near future and will to this end hold a tender, a spokesman said.
The exports were permissible because the government-sanctioned stipulation that domestic reserves should at least be 500,000 tons had been met, Psusri president director Dadarng Heru Kodri said here Wednesday.
National fertilizer stocks right now reached more than 1.5 million tons so that the exports would not affect needs, he said.
In connection with it he said the company had been allowed to conduct exports because stocks for domestic needs were already safe, he said.
He said at least 500,000 tons must be made available as stocks, which is the main requirement, before exports could be carried out and PT Pusri had been able to meet it.
Regarding exports destinations he said they usually went to Thailand, Vietnam, India and other Southeast Asian countries.
The export price of the fertilizer is estimated at between US$260 and US$270 per ton, he said.
He said PT Pusri had shrived to increase its production and also farmers' fields so that the government set the requirements for exports.
It is hoped the fertilizer exports would increase income, he said.
