Student dies of suspected swine flu in Bihar

Nawada (Bihar), Sept 19 (PTI) An engineering student, who
arrived here from south-Indian city of Chennai, died of
suspected swine flu at a government hospital here in Nawada
(in India's eastern state of Bihar), a doctor said Saturday.

Anand kumar, a BE student in Chennai who was admitted
to the emergency ward of the hospital here Friday night with
swine flue-like symptoms, did not respond to treatment and
died Saturday morning, Dr Rajkishore Prasad, a doctor who
attended on him, said.

The post mortem report was awaited, he said.

It would be the first-ever swine flu death in Bihar if
the autopsy report confirmed it, a state health official said.

So far, a couple of cases of swine flu have been reported
with a swine flue alert in place as also special facilities at
referral and medical colleges and hospitals. PTI
