President Saleh calls on Yemenis to promote national unity

SANA'A, Sep. 19 (Saba)-
President Ali Abdullah Saleh has called on all Yemenis to promote their national
unity and
avoid division and fragmentation.
In his speech on the occasion of the Eid al-Fitr, President Saleh said that the
people have to give priority to maintain security and stability of the country,
adopt measures
of dialogue and understanding to address challenges and overcome mistakes and
shortcomings in order to serve security, stability, unity and safety of the nation.
"The war in Saada has been imposed by those rebel elements. We have resorted to all
peaceful options to avoid the war and bloodshed. Our latest efforts to stop the war
were
on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan and what the government announced in
its statement of stopping the military operations on condition that the rebels to
apply
the cease-fire, open roads and remove mines", Saleh added.
"The rebels also must ceasefire, open roads, eliminate landmines, come down from
mountain peaks and end stationing at positions and roads as well as withdrawing
from all
districts, stopping intervening in the local government's duties, returning spoiled
military and public equipment, releasing troops and locals and sticking to the
constitution
and law".
