Pak troops fire on Indian positions, no casualties
Jammu, Sep 21 (PTI) In yet another violation of the
ceasefire, Pakistani troops fired on Indian positions in the
Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir Sunday night, but there
were no casualties.
Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing on Indian
posts in Mendhar and Krishanghati between 1955 hrs and 2020
hrs Sunday, Brigadier General (Staff), 16 Corps, Gurdeep
Singh told PTI.
There were no casualties, he said adding Indian troops
did not retaliate.
Pakistani troops fired small arms on Manji Takri and
Sabri Gali forward posts, the Brigadier said adding "we will
register a strong protest soon".
The firing lasted 15 to 20 minutes, he said.
Till now, over 40 incidents of ceasefire violation have
been reported this year.
In 2003, India and Pakistan declared a ceasefire along
the Line of Control as part of confidence-building measures.
