Samsung promotes 'Smart and Green' vision at mobile solutions forum

SEOUL, Sept. 22 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co., the world's largest
chipmaker, highlighted Tuesday a theme of "Smart and Green Mobility" as a new
trend for its mobile device business sector.
At the 6th annual Samsung Mobile Solutions Forum held in Taipei, the company
suggested that smarter and greener components will serve as the cornerstone of
its future information technology and mobile devices.
"As a leader in international efforts toward greater ecological sustainability
and 'green' awareness, Samsung Electronics is driving hard to further enhance the
value of its products through the design of high-performance devices with minimal
power requirements," said Kwon Oh-hyun, president of semiconductor business.
"Samsung 'smart' and 'green' solutions are designed to transform people's
lifestyles, while influencing a wide range of information technology products
entering the marketplace," he said.
The annual event was attended by more than 1,000 industry professionals including
Samsung business partners and customers engaged in manufacturing of handsets,
PDAs and original design manufacturers.
Besides outlining the company's goals, Samsung showcased advances in devices,
chips and systems that can significantly contribute to greater user mobility,
without sacrificing performance or increasing power consumption.
