Seoul's finance minister to leave for G-20 summit
By Koh Byung-joon
SEOUL, Sept. 22 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's finance minister will leave for the
United States this week to attend a G-20 summit meeting where the world's leaders
will discuss global cooperation on economic policies and other pending financial
issues, Seoul officials said Tuesday.
Finance Minister Yoon Jeung-hyun will leave for Pittsburgh on Wednesday to
accompany President Lee Myung-bak for the summit to be held in the U.S. city on
Thursday and Friday.
The two-day gathering is the third of its kind since the leaders of the world's
20 advanced and emerging economies got together to tackle global financial
turbulence that followed the collapse of Lehman Brothers last September.
On the sideline of the summit, Yoon will make a presentation on how to reform
financial regulations during a meeting with his counterparts from the G-20
countries, according to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.
He is also scheduled to have bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Japan
and South Africa during the event, the ministry added.
