FMs of S. Korea, China, Japan to meet in Shanghai next week
By Tony Chang
SEOUL, Sept. 22 (Yonhap) -- Foreign ministers of South Korea, China, and Japan
will hold their annual trilateral meeting in Shanghai next week to fine-tune the
details for an upcoming three-way summit of the countries' leaders, the foreign
ministry here said Tuesday.
South Korea's top diplomat, Yu Myung-hwan, will meet his Chinese counterpart,
Yang Jiechi, and Japan's newly named Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada at the third
three-way meeting in the Chinese port city on Monday, the foreign ministry said.
The three countries launched the ministerial talks in 2007 and have since taken
turns hosting. The inaugural gathering took place on South Korea's resort island
of Jeju, and the second session was in Tokyo last year.
The ministers are expected to discuss details of an upcoming summit of their
leaders slated for early October in China.
Yu will then travel to Japan next Tuesday for a two-day trip for separate talks
with Okada and officials of the new Japanese government.
