Padang, West Sumatra, Sept. 23 (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted Padang city in West Sumatra on Tuesday at 10.57 pm local time.

The quake's epicenter was located at 3.91 degrees southern latitude and 100.39 degrees eastern longitude, or 101 km southeast of Pagai Selatan, Mentawai, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The temblor's depth was 20 km below sea level and did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami.
