Korea Kumho Petrochemical to build plant in China

By Nam Kwang-sik
SEOUL, Sept. 23 (Yonhap) -- Korea Kumho Petrochemical Co. said Wednesday it will
spend 44 billion won (US$36.8 million) to construct a rubber accelerator plant in
southwestern China by the first quarter of 2011.
Once completed, the Chongqing plant will produce 22,000t of rubber accelerator
annually, the South Korean company said. Rubber accelerator is a chemical
substance that allows the vulcanization of rubber -- a treatment that imparts
greater durability and elasticity -- to occur more quickly.
In a bid to build the plant, Korea Kumho Petrochemical said it has signed a deal
with China's state-run SOPO Group to introduce technologies for rubber
accelerator.
