Union Home Minister P Chidambaram told reporters in New
Delhi that the encounter in Bandipora has ended and a jawan
and two terrorists Pasha and Mussa were killed.

The operation in the Ladoo forest area was launched on
Monday but the militants were confronted in the wee hours
Tuesday, the sources said adding the identity and group
affiliation of the terrorists could not ascertained as yet.

The firing between the two sides still continued
when last reports were received, the sources said.

They said the dead soldiers included a marine commando
whose unit was involved in the anti-militant operation.

The sources said at least two more militants were still
hiding in the forest area and efforts are on to neutralise
