Seoul stocks open lower on foreign, institutional selling
SEOUL, Sept. 24 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks started slightly lower Thursday,
dented by foreign and institutional selling, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) dropped 2.41 points, or
0.14 percent, to 1,709.06 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Foreign investors turned net sellers after a 14-day buying spree, taking profits
from recent rallies on the Seoul bourse.
Institutional investors continued their sell-off for a sixth day.
The local currency was trading at 1,195.9 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15 a.m.,
down 1.5 won from Wednesday's close, as foreigners dumped the Korean won.
