S. Korea, Estonia sign non-double taxation pact

SEOUL, Sept. 24 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and Estonia have signed a pact to avoid
double taxation in trade, Seoul's foreign ministry said Thursday.

South Korean Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan and his Estonian counterpart Urmas
Paet finalized the deal in their meeting on the sidelines of the U.N. General
Assembly in New York on Wednesday (local time), the ministry said.
"The ministers agreed to make joint efforts to put the pact into effect at an
early date to make contributions to the expansion of trade between the two
nations and bolster economic cooperation," ministry spokesman Moon Tae-young
said.
The non-double taxation pact requires legislative ratification in both countries.
The Yu-Paet meeting was the first foreign ministerial talks between the two
nations since they forged diplomatic relations in 1991.
Yu also invited Estonia to participate in the 2012 world expo to be held in the
coastal South Korean city of Yeosu, the ministry said.
