Telecom giant KT to invest 142.7 bln won in eco-friendly business
SEOUL, Sept. 24 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's telecom powerhouse KT Corp. said
Thursday it will invest 142.7 billion won (US$119.4 million) in becoming a
eco-friendly technology company.
Pyo Sam-soo, chief technology officer of KT, announced in a Seoul conference
early Thursday the company's business and investment strategies on green
information technology (IT).
According to Pyo, 142.7 billion won will be spent on energy-saving technologies
and the environmental improvement of existing telecommunications facilities.
KT officials said the company will cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent
by 2013, compared to 2005.
The company will also invest in developing eco-friendly services, such as
solutions for green automobiles and eco-buildings, cloud computing, green
Internet data centers, green mobile communications and smart grids.
