Seoul stocks open weaker on U.S. falls

SEOUL, Sept. 25 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks got off to a weak start Friday,
tracking Wall Street falls in the previous session, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) dropped 18.76 points, or
1.11 percent, to 1,675.12 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
U.S. stocks declined Thursday as a weak reading of home sales deepened investors'
worries about the broader U.S. economy. The Dow Jones industrial average dipped
0.5 percent and the technology-focused Nasdaq composite index dropped 1 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,196.4 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15 a.m.,
down 0.7 won from Thursday's close.
