KPK POSITION SHOULD BE WATCHED OUT
Jakarta, Sept 24 (ANTARA) - The position of tge Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as an independent state institution should be watched out, House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III deputy chairman Azis Syamsuddin said here on Thursday.
Syamsuddin made the statement following the signing of a government regulation in lieu of law (Perppu) by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to appoint three interim leaders of KPK.
"I think the Perppu is the responsibility of the president in his position as head of state, but the direction of KPK as an independent state institution should be watched out," Azis Syamsuddin said.
He said one thing that has to be watched out after the Perppu and the formation of the Team of Five to recruit three KPK interim leaders was their credibility, acceptability, capability, competence, and track records," he said.
"We have to watch over the figures who will be appointed for the KPK leadership because it is important to strengthen the Commission and not weakening it," he said.
