U.S. approves Samsung`s direct X-ray detector

SEOUL, Sept. 25 (Yonhap) -- The U.S. government has granted approval for the sale
of a Samsung affiliate's direct digital X-ray detector, company officials said
Friday.
Samsung Mobile Display Co. said it has earned an approval from the U.S. Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) on the sales of its Flat Panel X-Ray Detector (FPXD) in
the country.
The FPXD is able to convert X-ray information directly into a digital image which
can be viewed on a computer monitor in excellent diagnostic image quality.
Last year, Samsung also acquired Europe's CE Mark for the product, which allows
manufacturers and exporters to circulate products freely within the 15-member
European Union (EU).
