Have info on 5-star stay payments of Krishna, Tharoor: BJP
New Delhi, Sep 25 (PTI) With reports of India's External
Affairs Ministry having asked the government to foot bills of
three months stay by two Indian ministers in five-star hotels,
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday demanded that the
government clarify who paid the bills and hinted it had
information on it.
"Till three days back the revelations were made in a
newspaper, Ministry of External Affairs was writing to CPWD to
foot S M Krishna's bills of his three-month stay in the
presidential suite of a five star hotel," BJP spokesperson
Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
Hinting that BJP had incriminating details on who made
the payments for Krishna and his Minister of State Shashi
Tharoor, both of whom stayed in separate five-star hotels for
three months as they were awaiting allotment of their official
residences, Prasad said the government should come clean on
the issue.
"The ministers made public statements that they had made
private arrangements...The country is entitled to know why
they tried to mislead," Prasad said.
Stating that the ministers had an accountability, Prasad
alleged "prima facie" they seem to have lied.
An English daily had reported that External Affairs
Ministry had written to Indian Urban Development Ministry to
pay the hotel bills of the two ministers.
Prasad said if the government did not provide details
of payments, it would come out with the details at an
"appropriate time". PTI
