TWO KPK CHIEFS, `TEAM OF FIVE HOLD MEETING

Jakarta, Sept. 25 (ANTARA) - Haryono Umar and M Jasin, two remaining chiefs of the Commission of Corruption Eradication (KPK), held a meeting with members of 'Team of Five', here on Friday.

"Today we receive them. (We) meet to consul with the two remaining KPK chiefs. (We) want to know about their opinion and stance regarding the task of 'Team of Five' in selecting three candidates for KPK interim leaders," Adnan Buyung Nasution, a member of the Team of Five, said here on Friday.

The meeting was a good chance to listen to KPK's leaders because their opinion had never been asked by the government since the president issued a government regulation in lieu of law on KPK, Nasution said.

"We don't know whether they will recommend names or not. If they do, of course we will not reject it," he said prior to the meeting.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono recently issued a government regulation in lieu of law (Perppu) for appointing acting chairmen to fill vacancies in the KPK, after three KPK chairmen were named suspects by the police.

To select the acting chairmen to fill the posts of the three, the President formed a team (known as 'Team of Five') consisting of Coordinating Minister for Political, Security and Legal Affairs Widodo AS, Minister of Justice and Human Rights Andi Mattalatta, presidential adviser Adnan Buyung Nasution, senior lawyer Todung Mulya Lubis and former KPK chief Taufiequrrahman Ruki.
