ADNAN CALLS FOR SUSPENSION OF POLICE INTELLIGENCE CHIEF
Jakarta, Sept 25 (ANTARA) - A member of the presidential advisory council Adnan Buyung Nasution has asked national police chief General Bambang Hendarso Danuri to suspend its chief intelligence to wipe out the impression of a conflict of interest.
"I said it would be better if the police chief suspends Susno Duaji," he said after meeting a number of chief editors here on Friday.
Adnan came to the meeting in his capacity as a member of the team of five assigned to select replacements of the antigraft (KPK) officials named suspects by the police recently in connection with alleged crimes.
The meeting discussed issues relating to replacements for KPK officials and a conflict between the police and the KPK.
Adnan said the public had known that chief intelligence Susno Duaji was allegedly involved in the Bank Century case currently being dealt with by the KPK.
"We do not like the issues to develop in the public. This cannot be ignored," he said.
He said the development of a public opinion could be curbed
if the government through the police chief would act firmly against Susno.
"The government in this case the national police chief should have done it from the beginning," he said.
He said the police had to immediately examine Susno internally to assure if he was really involved in the Bank Century case or not.
Meanwhile, he said, the KPK must not hesitate to act if it has evidence to prove Susno's involvement. "I do not know why the KPK keeps silent," he said.
Adnan called on the KPK to have the courage to examine Susno to clarify the case.
On several occasions Susno had denied his involvement in the Bank Century case. He said what he had done in connection with the case was a police duty to unveil the truth.***
