FURTHER MEASURES AS H1N1 CONTINUES SURGE AHEAD OF SCHOOL YEAR



SANA'A, Sep. 25 (Saba) – Reporting five more swine flu cases, with the total of the confirmed cases in the country reaching 192, Yemen said on Friday necessary measures have been taken to combat the pandemic as the new school year is due October 3.

Minister of Education Abdul al-Salam al-Jawfi said his ministry and the ministries of Public Health and Population and Information are coordinating to ensure there is no further infection.

Among the measures taken are training courses to be held over the next week for all educators and school administrations across the republic to introduce them to the flu, its symptoms, its transmission, and ways to fight it.

The targeted will introduce information they will receive to the students.

Other measures will include publishing an awareness booklet and other publications over the swine flu prepared by the ministries of Education in Yemen and the Arabian Gulf States and distributing them for the schools as well as airing anti-H1N1 programs.
Al-Jawfi, furthermore, said an operation room has been formed by the ministries of Education and Public Health and Population to monitor the pandemic and take measures in an attempt to prevent its spread among the students.
