MUKOMUKO FISHERMEN WORRIED ON TRAWL BOAT PRESENCE
Bengkulu, Indonesia, Sept 27 (ANTARA) - Mukomuko regency fishermen worried on the presence of other region's fishermen equipped with trawl nets, and decreasing their income drastically.
Usually, a traditional fishing boat could get around 600 kg of fishes, meanwhile they can only captured half of the usual daily catch because they can't compete with other fishermen with trawl nets, said a bantal waters fisherman, Sofyan, Sunday.
He said that the traditional fishermen catch could not cover the sailing cost, for 200 kg of fish they get Rp300 thousand, but they spend more than Rp250 thousand for three men.
"We really are in a difficulty after the presence of fishermen outside Mukomuko who catches fish with their trawl net," he said.
Those fishermen's net are more than 1.000 meters wide, and machine rolled, once they spread the net, they could get more than a ton of fish.
These fishermen who are mostly came from Sibolga and Bengkulu are not only reducing the area's fish potential, but sometimes they also pulled away local fishermen's net.
The trawl fishing boat area is approaching the coast, if they leave to the sea, many local fishermen's net also get pulled away by their big and dense net, he said.
"We hope that the Mukomuko regent officer to stop the newcomer using the net," he said.
Ipuh Market, local fishermen conciliation chief, Saradi recently also complained about the arrivals of fishing boats from Sibolga and Bengkulu, because the fish potential is still big in Ipuh waters, Bantal to Mukomuko.
With the plenty fish potential. large sized fishing boats outside Mukomuko are racing to catch fish within the area, but they are using the trawl net.
Mukomuko information regent chief officer, Yanzuri Nawawi said that the traditional fishermen complains actually has been reported several moments ago, but due to the limited sea fleet the matter seems like being abandoned.
The regent officer is still making an effort to press the trawl net fishermen boat's operation, because there are some posts consisting of the Indonesian Navy and Water Police, And hope the matter could be over immediately, he said.
