Jubilee of Zulkharnai Baimurzayev
Aktau, September 28 2009, Khabar - 110th anniversary of famous scientist Zulkharnai Baimurzayev was celebrated in Tyubkaragan district of Mangystau region. Scientific-practical conference took place in the city of Fort-Shevchenko held and countrymen opened a monument in the village Kyzylozen, homeland of one of the first Kazakhstani graduates- ichthyologists. The commemoration Zulkharnai Baimurzaev began with the laying of flowers at the monument to victims of political repressions. Fate Zulkharnai Ospanovich is similar to the fate of thousands of his countrymen: the revolutionary activities, striking work, and ... shooting by sentence of the infamous “troika”.
Koshim Yesmagambetov, writer:
- Death is not most terrible punishment for a man. I think it is more terrific to bring his name into oblivion. The Soviet power did everything just for this and name of Zulkharnai Baimurzayev was forgotten.
The sentence was cancelled and Baimurzayev was rehabilitated only in 1958. In 1918 Zulkharnai Baimurzayev together with a group of revolutionaries founded Soviet power in Mangyshlak peninsula. Then he worked in party bodies of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, studied at Moscow institute of fishery and took the post of first deputy director of Crimea fishing trust. Just there, in Kerch city, man of principle Zulkharnai involved into conflict with a leadership. Engineer-ichthyologist wrote an official note explaining defects of work of enterprise. The employees of United state political department sent an inquiry to Fort-Shevchenko in order to find a reason of discharging refractory Communist. And the answer was Baimurzayev is son of mullah who felt sympathetic bourgeoisie. Zulkharnai Baimurzayev was shot in 1938.

- I think if he was alive, although history is not written in the conditional and subjunctive mood, but he would have been a sort of all-union leader. Now second life of Zulkharnai Baimurzayev began, but this second life is an eternal.
The monument of Zulkharnai Baimurzayev was opened at home in the village of Kyzylozen near the school, which now bears his name.
Zhan Baimurzayev, son of Zulkharnai Baimurzayev:
- I was three and a half years, when they arrested my father. I even don’t remember his face. It is a great happiness because my father is honored, he was rehabilitated and all docuemtns about him were found and he was restored with his party and civil rights.
