Charity campaign
150 Astana residents, representatives of national and foreign companies took part in special race in the capital park. Every participant ran only after a fee paying for orphans.
Paul Brummell, UK ambassador to RK:
- In UK we have very many charity organizations and we are glad to see how charity is developed here, in Kazakhstan.
There are no athletes among people of different ages and professions just as there are no winners and losers. Their common goal is to support the capital's House of a child and children's villages SOS Kinderdorf in Almaty, Astana and Temirtau. All collected in charity cash funds - 15 000 dollars will be transferred for the accounts of boarding schools in the nearest future. The organizers plan to hold such marathons every year not only in Astana, but also in all large cities of the country.
Gaukhar Bramley Fenton, executive director of British-Kazakh Society:
- Charity is a central concept in any society and any society, in principle is assessed according to its attitude to disadvantaged layers of the population and of course we want to put Kazakhstan's capital Astana along with other world capitals. Such marathons are held in New York and London also in Beijing, Barcelona and Berlin.
