Lee set for trilateral talks with China, Japan

SEOUL, Sept. 28 (Yonhap) -- South Korean President Lee Myung-bak will travel to Beijing for a three-way meeting on Oct. 10 with Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao and Japan's new Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, Seoul's presidential office Cheong Wa Dae said Monday.

"At the upcoming summit, the leaders of Korea, Japan and China will seek ways to
further develop their cooperation as the summit will mark the 10th anniversary of
their three-way cooperation," Cheong Wa Dae said in a press release.
The leaders are also expected to discuss regional security issues, including
North Korea, it said.
Lee met with the Japanese premier and Chinese President Hu Jintao last week in
New York on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly, seeking their support for
his proposed package deal in resolving North Korea's issue through a single-step
exchange of Pyongyang's denuclearization for massive economic and political
incentives.
The Japanese prime minister will arrive here Oct. 9 for bilateral talks with the
South Korean president before they both head to Beijing, according to Cheong Wa
Dae officials.
"The upcoming summit is expected to be an opportunity to significantly improve
the cooperation between the three countries as the leaders will exchange their
views on a wide range of ongoing issues and issues of their mutual concern,"
Cheong Wa Dae said in a press release.
