Yemen to take part in Internationall Oil Conference

SANA'A, Sep. 28 (Saba) - Yemen is to take part in the International Oil and Gas Industry Exhibition and Conference which is scheduled to be held in the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires during the period
of 5-9 October.

Speaking to Saba, Oil and Minerals Minister Amir Salim al-Aydarus, the head of
Yemen's delegation to the conference, said that a Yemeni wing in the exhibition
would be opened.
The Yemeni official also pointed out that he will chair a meeting of the Board of
Directors of Yemen LNG Company to review the final preparations to export the first
cargo
of liquefied natural gas.
The $5 billion Yemen LNG plant at Balhaf area in the eastern Yemeni province of
Shabwa, consists of two trains with a combined capacity of 6.7 million tons per
year.
Yemen LNG expects to start production from its new gas liquefaction plant in the
coming weeks.
The Total-led Yemen LNG project is expected to help boost economic growth in the
country to nearly 8 percent.
At the end of 2008, Yemen held 17.3 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of proven natural gas
reserves, according to the BP Statistical Review.
