PARTICIPANTS OF INT'L YOUTH CONFERENCE IN ANYER START ARRIVING
Serang, Sept 28 (ANTARA) - Participants of an International Youth Conference to be held in Anyer, Serang, Banten, on September 29-30 have started to arrive, a local official said.
The head of Banten province's youth and sports affairs office , Iin Mansyur, said here on Monday, around 60 of the participants from nine foreign countries had already arrived at the coastal resort to attend the con fence scheduled to be opened by Youth and Sports Minister Adhyaksa Dault on Tuesday.
"The number of participants from abroad will total 79 and around 60 of them have arrived," he said.
The participants are expected to come from Malaysia, Singapore, Hungary and other countries.
Around 182 participants from 35 countries would take part in the conference from September 29 to 30 including 103 from youth organizations, academics and individuals from Indonesia.
Iin said the opening of the conference would also be attended by Education Minister Bambang Sudibyo, Banten Governor Atut Cosiyah and UNESCO director for the Asia Pacific, Karen Malone.
Banten in the Western part of Java island had been chosen to host the conference because of the province's fast development and tourism potentials which equal those of Bali and Manado, in addition to the profound role it had played in the country's history.
Iin said the conference was a continuation of the conference in Bahrain last year and was expected to become a forum of exchange of information, experience and knowledge to reduce and prevent violence and radicalism among the youth.
"The conference will issue a recommendation put in the 'Youth Message from Banten for the Youth in the World'," Iin said. ***5***
