INDONESIAN WOULD-BE MPs TO BE SWORN IN ON OCT 1

Jakarta, Sept 28 (ANTARA) - Would-be members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Representatives Council (DPD) for the 2009-2014 period are to be sworn in on October 1, the General Elections Commission (KPU) said.

At around 1 pm on Monday they had already started arriving at the Borobudur and JW Marriott hotels here where they would stay for the swearing in ceremony.

"We will hold an informal gathering. We hope all of them will be present," General Elections Commission (KPU) member Sri Nuryanti said at the KPU headquarters.

She said preparations for the swearing in of DPR and DPD members who were elected in the legislative elections last April had run smoothly.

She said KPU had already prepared special vehicles to pick them up at the airport as well as transporting them to the parliament building.

Would-be DPD members had even been arriving since Saturday to attend a briefing from the DPD secretariat general.

On Tuesday would-be DPR and DPD members would hold a dress rehearsal for the ceremony and also attend a stadium generale at Hotel Borobudur to hear lectures from officials from ministries of home affairs, foreign affairs, law and human rights. the Corruption Eradication Commission, the Attorney General's Office and the Constitutional Court.

On Wednesday they would again attend a rehearsal at the Nusantara Building.

Before the swearing in at 10 am on Thursday, they would attend a ceremony to mark Pancasila Sanctity Day at Lubang Buaya, in East Jakarta.

Sri said would-be DPR members who would stay at the Borobudur were from the Democratic' Party, Golkar Party, the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDIP), the Properous Justice Party (PKS) and the Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra).

Those who would stay at the Marriott are from the National Mandate Party (PAN), the United Development Party (PPP), the National Awakening Party (PKB), the People's Conscience Party (Hanura) and would-be members of the DPD.

"Initially they would be accommodated at the Sultan Hotel but for certain reasons it was then changed. Why two hotels. It is because one hotel is not enough," Sri said.

The KPU has set aside Rp3.4 billion for the inauguration of the new DPR and DPD members.***1***
