PT INDONESIA POWER SEEKING ADDITIONAL COAL SUPPLY

Jakarta, Sept 28 (ANTARA) - PT Indonesia Power is approaching PT Adaro Energy to get an additional coal supply of three million tons to meet the company's demand in 2010.

"There is still a shortage in coal supply commitment for Indonesia Power, particularly for the Suralaya power plant totaling three million tons for next year. For that we are now negotiating with Adarao," the company's president director Tonny Agus Mulyantono said here on Monday.

Agus said Indonesia Power needed 13 million tons of coal supply a year.

"For next year it has only secured 10 million tons who contracts for it with several producers have already been signed," he said.

In anticipation for a possible bad weather which usually happens at the end of the year he said his company was seeking to maximize its supply.

"The stock has now reached 2.2 million tons and it is quite enough to meet demand for the next 55 days," he said.

PT Indonesia Power is the subsidiary of state-owned electricity company PT Pembangkit Listrik Negara (PLN), tasked with operating several power plants particularly those located in Java and Bali.

Some of the plants are coal-fired while others are operating using marine fuel oil or gas.
