U.S. grants Yemen YR 65 mln for rural electricity
SANA'A, Sep. 28 (Saba) - The US
Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) grants Yemen on Monday about RY 65 million (USD
323,000)
to support government efforts in building capacities in rural electricity field.
The sum agreement was signed by Planning and International Cooperation Minister
Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi and Electricity Minister Awadh al-Socotri and the US
ambassador to
Yemen Stephen Seche.
The American grant is a part of the technical assistances offered by the USTDA to
prepare the rural electricity strategy, approved by the government previously.
After signing the agreement, al-Arhabi praised the commitment the American
government shows to support development in Yemen.
He said that the American grant would assist in enhancing the government efforts to
tackle the power problem in the country, adding that reducing the electricity
shortage
is one of the government highest priorities in the future.
