S. Korean economy to grow more than 4 pct next year: overseas forecasters

SEOUL, Sept. 29 (Yonhap) -- Foreign economic growth forecasters are predicting that the South Korean economy may grow more than 4 percent next year on the back of robust domestic and overseas demand, industry sources said Tuesday.

The average growth outlook among prodictions by Moody's Investor Service,
Standard & Poor's and 12 other financial firms was more optimistic than the South
Korean government's 4-percent growth estimate announced in June.
The Bank of Korea, the country's central bank, has forecast that the economy will
grow 3.6 percent next year.
According to the sources, Switzerland-based brokerage Credit Suisse Group AG
predicted the highest growth estimate of 6 percent while global credit appraiser
Moody's published the weakest estimate of a 3-percent expansion.
The South Korean economy, Asia's fourth-largest, expanded 2.6 percent in the
April-June period from three months earlier, the fastest clip in more than five
years.
