YEMEN PLANNED 'TEMPORARY SCHOOLS' FOR DISPLACED IN NORTH

SANA'A, Sep. 30 (Saba) - Under an emergency plan, Yemen and Unicef have agreed to set up temporary schools at the displaced camps in the northern provinces of Saada and Amran, a move which comes as the new school year, postponed in some provinces amid swine flu surge, approaches.

The announcement was made during the meeting that gathered officials from the newly-formed Popular Support Committee and the Unicef which was aimed at dealing with establishing temporary schools and providing educators and curricula for the war-affected students in Saada and Amran provinces.

The meeting also discussed coordination between the committee and Unicef to deliver foodstuff, cloth and water aid for more than 150.000 displaced people in the two governorates as well as setting up a new displaced camp and expanding the existent ones.

In the meeting, the committee and Unicef agreed that the latter be responsible for coordinating relief efforts with international agencies transparently.

Representative of the Unicef in Yemen Maria Fonisca voiced concern about inhumane acts committed against the displaced people by the Houthi rebels, saying the organization is doing its utmost to reach the affected without making aid delivery politically-motivated.
