Hyundai Heavy wins deal for wind power generators

SEOUL, Sept. 30 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., the world's leading
shipbuilder, said Wednesday that it has won a deal to supply wind turbine
generators to a U.S. company.
Under the deal with Wave Wind LLC, Hyundai Heavy will provide six 1.65-megawatt
wind turbine generators by March 2010. Financial terms of the deal were not
disclosed.
The generators will be manufactured at its plant in Gunsan, 274 kilometers
southwest of Seoul starting from October.
Hyundai Heavy is seeking to diversify its business portfolio by launching wind
power and other alternative energy-related businesses.
Hyundai Heavy also plans to spend 300 billion won (US$255 million) to build a
second factory for solar cell factory by 2010.
