YJS, IFJ LAUNCH ETHICAL JOURNALISM INITIATIVE



SANA'A, Sep. 30 (Saba) - Yemeni Journalists Syndicate (YJS) and International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) launched here on Wednesday the ethical journalism initiative as well as declaring its national committee.

During the inauguration ceremony, head of YJS Yassin al-Masoudi affirmed that the initiative comes to defend press and enhance its role.

For his part, head of IFJ Jim Boumelha reviewed the global context from where the initiative came and the difficulties facing it such as racism, especially after the dialogues and debates following the publication of cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).

He also noted to the importance of the ethical journalism, affirming the support of IFJ to the initiative national committee in Yemen.

The IFJ regional coordinator Monir Za'aror referred that a number of similar national committees have been established in several Arab countries to work in identifying a national program for supporting journalism.
